This book, published in 2011, has become the catalyst for a short documentary about gospel music and the church – Pilgrim Baptist Church- that broadcast its sound in Chicago and throughout the country. Thomas A. Dorsey served as minister of music there for over fifty years. This marks the 20th anniversary of the loss of Pilgrim to a fire. Work continues to not only restore its historical significance, but also to prepare it to house a gospel music museum in Chicago.
